The heart, mastermind, and genius behind the SOCKs organization, Kyle "Kid Combat" Christensen is a hero amongst the kids of Elmcrest.
He was born ten years ago in the small town and throughout his young life, noticed his town changing. What was once a small, quiet, peaceful town- was replaced by a greedy, capitalistic world. The parents of most of his friends turned their backs on family and traditional values and chased the all powerful dollar and the greed that lined the pockets of Phillip Arthur Jones.
He never meant to become a hero, but during the Trial of Maple Forest, young Kyle and a group of his friends gathered a wealth of information and stopped Jones Industries from destroying their park. That one incident sent off a chain of events that made Kyle into what he is today.
Dubbed Kid Combat by the local media, Kyle found his calling by trying to bring a stop to the evil spell the town had fallen under. And that meant trying to get rid of the leader of the problem - Jones.
Kyle, now acting out in secret as Kid Combat, went on several missions of varying success on his own. While most of those early missions are a mystery, one thing is for certain- Kid needed some help.
Overtime, Kid enlisted the help of his closest friend- Samantha Jameson. With her help, Kid was able to start his organization, which Samantha named the Secret Order of Clever Kids.
 With some help, the two were able to chip away at Jones's empire. The SOCKs organization grew quickly as more of Kid's closest friends joined the organization. Eventually, the group started becoming so successful, the town was a buzz about who Kid Combat really was.
No longer feeling safe operating out of Gears's Treehouse and Samantha's garage, ground was broken on the SOCKs new secret base- The Playground.
Located within Maple Forest, The Playground would be the backbone of the SOCKs organization. The exact details on how the base was built or financed remain a secret that only Kid and Samantha know- and they guard that secret with their lives.
 After many run-ins with Kid, an obsession started to grow within Jones to find out Kid Combat's real identity. Failed attempt after failed attempt only angered Jones more, which led him to make some drastic and careless decisions. One of those decisions was kidnapping Samantha and using her as bait to trap Kid Combat- as detailed in Volume One: A Secret Lost.
