"Kid Combat" is a series of adventure books by Christopher A. Helwink targeted towards the young adult market (ages 7-13). The first two books in the series, A Secret Lost, and The Heist of Spring Road Toys are currently published by Wheatmark and are available here at this website or any major online book store.

For parents, the book contains no foul language or violence.

The books center on a group of kids, led by Kid Combat, that clash against an evil man, Phillip Arthur Jones, which is taking over their town. While the parents are lead by the lure of greed towards Jones, the children of the town are left to fend for themselves and watch as their parks, schools, and hangouts are destroyed one by one to make room for Jones' "progress".

The first two volumes have been used in schools around the United States.

In the first volume, Kid Combat learns about a possible leak in security that may enable Jones to find out his real identity. Because Kid and his friends operate out of secrecy, this would be devastating to them. Kid leaps into action along with his closest friend Samantha - a tough, sarcastic, and very independent ten year old - to see how real the threat is to their way of life.

Meanwhile, Kid assigns the set of twins - Wedge and Rocket - to closely monitor Jones and his activities. But, instead, they go on a hilarious journey that is full of suspense and action.

Back in their makeshift hideout in Samantha's parents' garage, Kid decides its time to open their more secure - and secret - base.

Dubbed - The Playground - the new base, located deep within Maple Forest, will allow the group of friends to act out their missions with less eyes watching over their every move.

As the base opens, Jones makes a rash play in kidnapping one of Kid Combat's gang. Knowing that KC will eventually come to him, Jones sets a trap - waiting to capture and finally find out the identity of his greatest threat -Kid Combat.

And that, is just volume one...

Subsequent volumes dive deeper into the Kid Combat universe. In Volume II, The Heist of Spring Road Toys, Kid Combat must face off against a new villain - the curator of the Science Museum. As the museum becomes more successful and respected around town and the world, the curator feels that expansion is not only a necessity, but his right - no matter what the costs.

As he threatens all the businesses that neighbor him on Spring Road, the curator, with the help of an old friend, find little opposition. That is, until they come to Spring Road Toys.

The two owners, Mr. & Mrs. Thompson, refuse to sell their property to the curator, which, only infuriates the man.

The curator hires two local boys to send the Thompson's a message. That message was heard by the entire town loud and clear.

With the toy store being one of the last few businesses in Elmcrest not owned by Jones, Kid Combat has a soft place in his heart for the store. He calls his group into action to protect the store and the Thompsons.

While focused on their mission, one of the members slips up and leads an intruder to their new secret base.

Kid Combat will be forced into action to save his friends, and his base, from certain annihilation.
