Gears's tree house was the backbone of the SOCKs organization during its earliest phases. Located high in a maple tree in Gears's family backyard, the tree house- to the untrained eye- was nothing more than the typical boys' fort. Seven wood planks nailed into the tree acted as a ladder to the main entrance. The house itself was made from mismatched planks of wood that were left over from various projects at the Gears household.

The inside was painted dark red, and both side walls had a window. An empty crate in the center of the room acted as a table, and small chairs surrounded it. Comic books littered the floor, posters covered the walls, and a sign that read, "No Girls Allowed" flanked the entrance. It was more a decoration than a rule- Samantha made sure of that.

Beyond its facade, the tree house was much more. Secret compartments lined the walls, the floors, and the table that held the secret documents, gadgets, and other vital imformation that helped Kid Combat and his band of friends take down Jones.

The tree house was adequate for the beginning, but as the threat of Jones increased, a more secret base was needed. After the trial of Maple Forest, Kid and Samantha knew it would be the perfect spot for their new base.

After months of planning and building, The Playground was launched. Gears and the rest of the crew spent the next few days moving everything out of Gears's treehouse into the new, more secure base.
