In the first volume, Kid Combat has to battle his greatest enemy - Phillip Arthur Jones. The smug, evil, man that has corrupted Kid Combat's small town. Moments into the book, Kid Combat learns of a leak in security that could enable Jones to find out his real identity. Because Kid and his friends operate out of secrecy, this would be devastating to them. Kid leaps into action along with his closest friend, Samantha, to see how real the threat is.

Meanwhile, Kid assigns the set of twins - Wedge and Rocket - to closely monitor Jones and his activities. But, instead, they go on a hilarious journey that is full of suspense and action.

Back in their makeshift hideout in Samantha's parents garage, Kid decides its time to open their more secure - and secret - base. Dubbed The Playground, the new base - which is located deep within Maple Forest - allows the group of friends to act out their missions with less eyes watching over them.

As the base opens, Jones makes a rash play in kidnapping one of Kid Combat's gang, knowing that KC will come to him. Jones sets a trap and waits to capture Kid Combat and finally learn the identity of his greatest enemy...
